The Gentlemen returned to Netflix on 3 September with a season set in Italy, which makes this the perfect moment to look at Guy Ritchie's whole body of work—from Lock, Stock and Snatch to Sherlock Holmes and The Gentlemen. What exactly is the formula: the rapid-fire dialogue, the criminal gentlemen, the tangled plots, the very English humour? And does that formula still feel fresh, or has it hardened into self-parody?
